Refuting the charge that the police were targeting the cine industry for the drug and sex racket, with sole intention of defaming them Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, A K Khan made it clear that there was no iota of truth in it.
The charges leveled against the police that they are deliberately harassing the cine-folk are baseless and meaningless said A K Khan, in his inaugural speech at the opening of Cyber Crime Police Station, DD, Hyderabad at Nampally here. The police would not spare anyone, however big they might be, if they secure irrefutable evidence on a particular person who is involved in that crime, the cop added.
Speaking on the occasion, Khan said that 35 cyber crime cases have been registered till the end of June. He made it clear that the police have prima facie evidence that there was connection between the smuggling of psychotropic drugs and prostitution racket in the State capital.
Hitting out at the Movie Artistes Association allegations leveled against the police he noted that the cine actors Jyoti and Saira Banu were taken into custody on the basis of unimpeachable evidence against them. Stating that the police have audio and video records as evidence in connection with the police raid on the flat in the VIP-dominated Kundanbagh area.
These evidences we are ready to exhibit if the Movie Artistes Association (MVA) want to have a clear check on them, the cop challenged the MVA.
Condemning the allegations of junior artistes Saira Babu and Jyothi that they walked into the trap laid by the police, Khan observed , “they were taken into custody for indulging in prostitution. We can prove what was going on in the flat. We have audio and video evidence in connection with the sex racket. We are not disclosing the details of the raid following court orders to protect the future of the accused”, he added.
