Naga Vamsi, the producer who bought the Telugu states theatrical rights of War 2, has given an official clarification about the film's business. Earlier reports claimed that the Telugu states' rights of War 2 were bought for ₹80 crore, and that the same amount was involved in distribution deals, excluding GST. However, Naga Vamsi revealed that he actually bought the film for ₹68 crore.
According to Naga Vamsi, the film earned a share of ₹40 crore. Yash Raj Films, the production house, refunded ₹18 crore to him, adjusting the losses. He appreciated Yash Raj Films for honouring the agreement and refunding the amount immediately.
Naga Vamsi admitted that this year did not go well for him, and he made some decisions with overconfidence that did not work out as expected. He realized that nothing should be taken for granted and has decided to start fresh again, going back to the basics.
War 2, starring NTR and Hrithik Roshan, failed at the box office, resulting in significant losses. The film's worldwide gross is estimated to be around ₹250-300 crore, which is lower than expected. In the YRF SPY Verse, War 2 stands at a lower position compared to other superhit films like Pathaan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
