Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming film Parasakthi is facing a legal dispute over its story, with a petition seeking to stop its release. The film, directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Ravi Mohan and Atharvaa, was recently sent for re-censor. The Madras High Court heard the case, but refused to grant an injunction against the film's release.
The court directed both parties to file their counter-affidavits and asked the Writers' Association to submit a report on the complaint. The case has been posted for further hearing on January 2, 2026. The film's producer and director, represented by Senior Advocate Aravind Pandian and R. Singaravelan, argued their case before Justice S. M. Subramaniam.
The petitioner alleges that the story of Parasakthi was copied without authorization, and sought to restrain the film's release. However, the court declined to grant an injunction, allowing the film to proceed with its release plans.
The film's fate, however, is uncertain, as the case is still pending and the court has asked for more information. The film's release was initially delayed due to re-censoring, and now the legal issue has added to the uncertainty.
