Dhurandhar, the Ranveer Singh-starrer action drama, faced intense criticism from viewers after its release on Netflix on January 30, 2026. Fans complained about the poor color grading, washed-out visuals, and muted dialogues, making the OTT version significantly inferior to the theatrical experience. The backlash was swift, with many taking to social media to express their disappointment.

The controversy surrounding Dhurandhar's OTT version led to Netflix taking an unusual step. The streaming giant rolled out an updated version of the film, addressing the technical issues raised by fans. The AV1 bitrate has been increased from 1.79 Mbps to 12.56 Mbps, resulting in better contrast, deeper shadows, and restored blue and orange tones. This move highlights the impact of audience reaction on Netflix's content strategy.

The updated version of Dhurandhar on Netflix has received positive feedback from fans, who appreciate the improved visual quality. However, some viewers are still disappointed with the trimmed runtime, which is 9 minutes shorter than the theatrical version. The film's runtime on Netflix is 3 hours and 25 minutes, compared to the original 3 hours and 34 minutes. The trims are reportedly due to compliance with international streaming norms and regional sensitivities.

Despite the controversy, Dhurandhar has maintained its top spot on Netflix, attracting a large audience. The film's sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is set to release on March 19, 2026, and fans are eagerly awaiting its arrival.
