Alia Bhatt is set to star in a new film titled Housewife, directed by Abhishek Pathak, who previously helmed Drishyam 2. The movie is described as a high concept relationship drama focusing on a married couple. Rajkummar Rao is being considered for the male lead role, although he has not yet been officially signed on.
In addition to her acting role, Alia Bhatt will also co-produce Housewife under her banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions, in collaboration with Abhishek Pathak's Panorama Studios. The film is expected to begin filming around August to September 2026, after Pathak wraps up Drishyam 3.
Alia Bhatt has a busy schedule ahead, with upcoming films like Alpha, a spy thriller, and Love & War, a period romance co starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Alia's collaboration with Abhishek Pathak marks a new direction in her career, exploring a more intimate, performance driven space.
If confirmed, Housewife would be her first project with Pathak and potentially her first on screen collaboration with Rajkummar Rao who has several projects lined up, including two Netflix films and a biopic of Ujjwal Nikam. He is also collaborating with Manoj Bajpayee on a film directed by Shoojit Sircar.
