Premalu 2 Shelved Due to Script Issues

The sequel to the 2024 blockbuster Premalu, starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju, has reportedly been shelved due to differences of opinion over the script. The original film, released on a modest budget of Rs 12.50 crore, went on to collect around Rs 135 crore worldwide, emerging as one of the biggest hits of the year.

Despite the official announcement of Premalu 2 on April 18, 2024, the project faced continuous delays, with no progress made. Director Girish AD has moved on to his next project, Bethlehem Family Unit, starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, set for Onam 2026 release. 

Premalu Co-producer Dileesh Pothan cited technical reasons for the delay, but there's been no official confirmation on the project's status. The lack of updates has strengthened speculation around the project's future, with fans eagerly awaiting clarity.  

The original cast, including Naslen, Mamitha Baiju, and Sangeeth Prathap, were expected to return, but script differences reportedly led to the project's cancellation. Premalu's success rewrote Malayalam box office records, and its sequel's cancellation has disappointed fans.
