Actor Rajpal Yadav Sent To Tihar Jail in Cheque Bounce Case

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has surrendered to Tihar Jail authorities in Delhi after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him an extension in his cheque bounce cases. Rajpal appeared before the Jail Superintendent at around 4 pm on Thursday, complying with the court's directive. 

Rajpal had been instructed to surrender by February 4, following his conviction in multiple cheque dishonour cases. However, his counsel requested an extra week to complete the payment, citing that Rajpal Yadav had managed to arrange Rs 50 lakh. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma rejected the application, stating that no valid grounds justified an extension.

The Delhi High Court had previously directed Yadav to surrender, noting that he repeatedly breached his undertakings to repay the amount owed to the complainant, M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd. The court emphasized that leniency cannot be extended endlessly, especially when commitments are not honored. Rajpal Yadav's sentence stems from a May 2024 conviction in a cheque bounce case, with a sessions court sentencing him to six months' imprisonment.
