Shastri Garu Condition for Mani Ratnam

Off late Sirivennela Seetharama Shastri has become very selective in accepting the films for writing the lyrics. There is no dearth for offers to knock his door but being a senior lyricist whose every word has loads of power to inspire the present day audiences, Shastri garu confined himself to only a pick of directors. One such film we all are waiting to see in theaters and songs we are dying to hear is ‘Ok Bangaram,’ the Telugu dubbed version to Tamil original ‘Ok Kanmani’ from Mani Ratnam with music composed by AR Rahman.

‘This film is magically mesmerizing. We won’t see people who won’t love Mani Ratnam film. When he approached for writing the lyrics to ‘Ok Bangaram,’ I could not say no. But, when he agreed for a condition of mine, I agreed. I asked him not to worry about matching my lyrics with lip sync of artists because they would have performed as per Tamil lyrics. That is the reason why, you can feel ‘Ok Bangaram’ songs as of original Telugu flavor but not dubbed one,’ Shastri garu said.
