Abdul Kalam or Aurangzeb?!

What’s the best way to pay everlasting tribute to APJ Abdul Kalam, our National honor? A new campaign has begun in New Delhi to rename Aurangzeb Road as Abdul Kalam Marg. The campaigners are dividing Muslims as Good Muslim or Bad Muslim: Kalam is a Secular Muslim and the road should be renamed in Kalam’s memory thus hurting the sentiments of Mughal Emperor’s supporters. 

However, the true followers of Kalam’s ideologies and principles are considering this attempt of naming an old road after Kalam as a stale homage because our Missile Man always welcomed new inventions. Instead naming a new creation with Kalam name in those fields where he was a pioneer can be a fitting tribute. Meanwhile, there are long pending demands from various politicians and Delhi Municipal Councils requesting to change Aurangzeb Road as Guru Gobind Singh Road or Guru Tegh Bahadur Marg. On social networking sites, majority opinion reflected in naming some other new road or new invention or new project on Kalam rather than dividing the people on religious lines.
