Dasari Narayana Rao is the real Tollywood legend, established benchmarks for top quality story, script and directional skills. He made many heroes to evolve as stars and there were units in those days to measure the necessary qualifications present in a person to become a hero material. Now, there is no such unit or dimension to become a hero.

‘In earlier days, attributes like decent height, manly looks, kind nature, philosophical attitude, family stature etc were mandatory to define a hero. Ever since Puri Jagannath made a film in the name of ‘Idiot,’ all the definitions of a hero are changed. Today a hero should be arrogant, ill tempered and satirical or he has to be irresponsible towards the family and tease his own girl friend or lover on centre of the road. All those descriptions needed to define a hero in past days is completely in contrast for current generation,’ Dasari’s extempore at a film function.

‘All these resulted in weekend movies having a run of three to four days in theaters while real hits worth to watch and having the capability to run for 50 days or 100 days are untraceable,’ Dasari further added. By large extent, one might have to agree about Dasari comments on how Puri trend damaged the present Tollywood.
