There was a time when regional South films are seen as inferior to mighty Bollywood. Later on, entry of Khan Trio (Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh) into Mumbai movie circles altogether elevated Indian cinema’s commercial stamina by many folds. One has to agree that those were also the times Tollywood has seen a rapid increase in market range. Now, the young generation heroes and directors from Telugu and Tamil lands are simply over toppling the Bollywood.
Especially, this year is proving to be very fruitful with films like ‘Bahubali, Srimanthudu’ from Telugu and ‘I’ from Kollywood raised to the occasion minting enormous Box Office figures. On to testing the intelligence quotients in new genres like horror and thriller, this week’s new release ‘Maya/Mayuri’ is rated as nothing less than a classic by top media agencies. The very young Ashwin Saravanan yet again brandished South Indian brains as neurologically best on this planet. Way to go Indian cinema and kudos to our Southern talents.
