Do you remember Prohor which created a stir as a national award winning film? This was made by director Subhadro Choudhury, a faculty member of Satyajit Roy Film and Television Institute. The film was about a nurse who is asked to take care of the person who had raped her.Now comes Clerk, from the same filmmaker. It is not a remake of a Telugu or a Hindi film. It’s an original script made in Bangla, he emphasized. It is more of a character-oriented film who is involved more in his inner world than the perceived reality. It is treated as a stream of consciousness fiction.

The film is due for release next week.Clerk has Prosenjit Chatterjee playing the eponymous character of a typist who is leading a dual life. “He has surrendered to my vision. He plays an unassuming middle-aged bachelor who changes the moment he walks into his sanctuary. He is a bashful rake courting Bollywood heroines in his imaginary world. And it’s to his credit that Prosenjit has convincingly managed to project the contradictory sides of the same character convincingly,” insists Choudhury. It is produced by Nitesh Sharma.
