Deepika Padukone Fails Over Mallu Beauty!

After excelling in Bollywood, obviously the next target for many Hindi heroines will be to step on higher level glamour platform grabbing offers with internationally acclaimed film makers. Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone lost one such marvelous opportunity to work with Iranian director Majid Majidi of ‘Children of Heaven’ fame when Malayalam actress Malavika Mohanan is picked for the same role.

Maverick Majij Majidi announced his dream project ‘Beyond the Clouds’ long back with entire shooting set in India. He also called Deepika Padukone for a look test and the same pictures went viral almost unofficially confirming her as heroine. This sort of aggressive PR stunt played by Deepika did not please Majid Majidi and he started to look for an immediate replacement. 

Then Majidi found Malavika Mohanan, daughter of most celebrated cinematographer KU Mohanan. When she passed the screen test and impressed the auteur with amazing performance in bunch of Malayalam films released, the take was very easy. 

Malavika Mohanan debuted into films opposite handsome Dulquer Salmaan in ‘Pattam Pole’ and then forayed into Kannada too. 

‘I cannot reveal anything about the character in ‘Beyond the Clouds’ but what I know is I signed for a role that Deepika Padukone was initially auditioned. I am already participating in the shoot in Mumbai,’ an excited Malavika Mohanan informed media. 

Story of this film pivots on relationship between brother and sister. While Malavika is playing the sister, Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khatter is debuting into films by playing the brother character and none other than AR Rahman is the music composer.
