Preity Adopts 34 Orphans!

Rs.600 crore. An adopted daughter. 34 orphan girls. An adopting mother. Common thread: Preity Zinta.Even as the media raked up the muck on the Zinta and Ness Wadia romantic fissure, there was fresh meat for the scribe tribe to chew on.

Shandar Amrohi, scion of the legendary filmmaker Kamaal Amrohi, is locked in a fierce legal battle with his sister Rukhsar and her son Waseem, insinuating that the duo had fraudulently pledged his shares in Mahal Pictures Pvt. Ltd (that owns the renowned Kamaal Amrohi studio) to a company in Pune. The lure in question: business and property valued at over Rs 600 crore!

Able support for Shandar has been forthcoming from his sibling Tazdar Amrohi… and an unlikely, starry supporter: Preity Zinta!

Reportedly, Shandar regards Preity as his "adopted daughter" and is considering bequeathing all his share of the property to her.

Shandar avers that he felt a karmic connection with Zinta, the moment he spotted her in 'Dil Se.' "I felt that if I had a daughter, she'd be quite like Preity, all effervescent and lively," he states in a tabloid interview. "Then, I grew to be fond of her as I watched more of her movies. In 2005, I first met her in a five star hotel and I feel that I share a spiritual bond with her."

The philanthropic Zinta, co owner of the IPL team Kings XI Punjab, has being doing her good bit on the sidelines. Recently, she had 34 orphan girls from the Mother Miracle School at Hrishikesh for company. Incidentally, she had adopted them a year ago!
