2.0 Chennai Record, Weak In Kerala

2.0 starring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar had one of the widest release in about 10,600 screens worldwide which is a record for an Indian film. Directed by Shankar, the film received extremely positive reviews. While it is breaking records in several areas, it is not up to the mark in few areas.

2.0 has achieved a great feat at the Chennai city box office. The film has collected whopping Rs 2.64 Cr in the city beating previous best of Vijay’s Sarkar which grossed Rs 2.37 Cr on its opening day. Rajinikanth’s Kaala, Vijay’s Mersal and Ajith’s Vivegam are in Chennai top 5 grossers list with day one gross of 1.76 Cr, 1.52 Cr and 1.21 Cr respectively.

2.0 however has failed to rake record numbers in Kerala. The film has grossed Rs 4.15 Cr in the state and it is the fifth highest day one grosser. Sarkar which broke Baahubali 2 (5.45 Cr) first day gross still holds the all time record with 6.60 Cr gross.

The film is below par in overseas considering investments. Except for Nizam, 2.0 is off to decent start in Telugu states.
