The results for 119 constituencies in Telangana that went to the polls in a single phase for the 2018 Assembly Elections 2018 are being announced. The Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao's gamble to call for early elections has worked for the party well. The party is leading in 87 places.

The Congress-led Maha Kutami (People’s Front), which includes the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and the CPI, didn't gather much electoral support. Praja Kutami is leading in just 24 constituencies.

It’s surely unexpected result not just for opposition parties, but TRS as well. Senior and popular Congress leaders such as Jana Reddy, Jeevan Reddy, Shabbir suffered defeat whereas Revanth Reddy, DK Aruna, Damodara Rajanarsimha, Konda Surekha, Geetha Reddy etc. are in trailing.

Interestingly, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister who actively campaigned for Maha Kutami, especially for his TDP candidates is seen nowhere. His party is leading in just 2 places and this shows the end to TDP in Telangana. Nandamuri Suhasini and Bhavya Anand are on the verge of defeat.

Speculations were rife that, Chandrababu dumped huge money to influence voters and elections in Telangana. Whether the claims are true or false, but the results clearly indicate that, people of Telangana are not willing to believe Central and non-local parties.

Political analysts opine that, results of Telangana will have great effect on polls in AP in 2019. We need to wait and see how these results will have its effect on AP elections!
