Gone are the days when Bollywood beauties looked down south only if they do not have any offers in hand. For quite some time many aspiring and even renowned actresses are making their entry in south especially Tollywood as they feel that it will get them good offers in B-Town.

On the other hand, actresses like Radhika Apte have made sensational allegations on Tollywood and filmmakers here. In the midst of all this, Amirta Rao who romanced Super Star Mahesh Babu in Athidhi under the direction of Surender Reddy, made shocking allegations on Tollywood filmmakers.

She said, "You would be surprised to know that I was offered three roles in a month after Athidhi but I didn’t take up any. I didn’t like how Tollywood reduced its actresses into mere ‘objects of desire’. Somehow, that didn’t sit well with me. However, working in Athidhi was different because I had a role that was parallel to that of Mahesh Babu’s. People also told me that South Indian movies are about making some quick money. They said I don’t have to worry about my Telugu diction and pronunciation as the dialogues could easily be dubbed, but that’s not the way I work. When it comes to acting, money has never been my focus."

On her staying in Hyderabad even after Athidhi, she said "Yes! The year we shot for Athidhi, Shyam Benegal’s Welcome to Sajjanpur also went on floors in Hyderabad. Our shoot for the light-hearted Hindi comedy went on for 45 days. That was when Hyderabad turned into my second home. I have vivid memories of enjoying Andhra delicacies on the sets with director Benegal ji and the rest of the team. I remember savoring the brown rice that was sent for us from Mahesh’s house during the shoot of Athidhi as well. Namrata and Mahesh are like family and I feel extremely welcomed here."

Amirta Rao recently impressed all with her performance in Thackery biopic playing the role of his wife Meena Tai.
