Boasting Of Making Good Films Won't Work

Why few films become hits? And why many turn out to be flops? There is no one who can come with a perfect answer for the above questions. Without going into the intricate details, a film turns out to be a hit if viewers watch and flops if they do not.

However there is a small logic here. Even some films that appealed to people turned out to be flops and some turned out to be hits though people did not like them. This depends on the budget of a film.

For example if unknown producers, director and lead pair come with a 300 crores project with a good story, though people like it, it will not get Rs 300 crores in the long run.

Similarly if a star hero comes with an average film with Rs 80 crores budget, the film will easily collect Rs 100 crores and turns out to be super hit. What one should observe is the makers should have an idea on how much budget one should have for a particular story. If they shore up the budget just because they have an Avatar like story, collections will give shock.

Here also many say, one should decide on the budget based on the story. However that is completely wrong. One should decide on the budget depending on how much market the film has and how much it can recover. If they increase budget just because they have a good story, they will in the end lament that movie lovers are not encouraging good films.

One should select star cast who can make people come to theatres and without that if they rue saying they have come with a good film and blame people in turn will not help their cause.
