Malayalam filmmaker-screenwriter Sachy aka KR Sachidanandan of Ayyappanum Koshiyum fame died on June 18th at Jubilee Mission Hospital in Thrissur, Kerala. He was 48 years old. Earlier, this week, Sachy was admitted to another hospital for a total hip replacement surgery post which he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Sachy was then shifted to Jubilee Mission Hospital where he was put on a ventilator. He breathed his last at around 9.30 pm on Thursday. John Abraham and other South celebrities including, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Nivin Pauly and several other actors took to social media to mourn his death.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, who worked with Sachy in Ayyappanum Koshiyum early this year, wrote, "Gone," in Malayalam.
Sachy's passing away is a huge loss to the Malayalam film industry as he is regarded as one of the most prolific writers. He made his debut as a director with Anarkali, which released in 2015. His second (and last) directorial venture, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, won rave reviews not just in Kerala, but across the country. The film will soon be remade in telugu and other languages.
