Oscar test for RRR and The Chello Show tomorrow

Oscar litmus test for RRR and The Chello Show will start in a couple of hours from now. It is known that India is still dreaming of the first Oscars for its films in the foreign language category even after decades. The first shortlisting of the films for the International Films Category will be happening today evening and the makers of The Chello Show are keeping their fingers crossed. Similarly, the big test for RRR starts in January when the main nominations are announced.

Speaking about the prospects of The Chello Show, a jury member said "The first shortlisting for the international category will happen today evening which has The Chhello Show in the foreign films category, but the fate of RRR will be known in January when the main nominations are announced."

Film Critic Aseem Chabbra sharing his thoughts on the prospects of  The Chello Show and RRR said  "I don’t think The Last Picture Show will make the shortlist for the Best International Feature Film as there is very strong competition. RRR should definitely make it to the list for the song. If there is a miracle it could also get in the list for editing. And maybe direction."

Clarity will come on Thursday when the Jury will be shortlisting 15 films under each category and the list will be pruned to five in each category on January 23, 2023.
