Telugu Film Industry was based in Madras in Tamil Nadu until 70's. Vijaya Vauhini and AVM Studios were located in Madras and thus the entire Tollywood resided there even after the formation of seperate Andhra Pradesh. Then, one of the legendary heroes Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu built Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad which played a key role in shifting Tollywood to Hyderabad. ANR founded the studio in 1976. Located in the heart of Hyderabad, India the 22-acre studio provides numerous services for films.
Today the studio has completed 47 years. It was launched on 14th January, 1976 by then President Of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. The studio grew leaps and bounds adding more and more facilities and state of art technologies to its crown. The studio was also ventured into Film Production and produced many blockbusters. In 2011, the Akkineni Family launched a non-profitable educational institute called the Annapurna International School of Film and Media. ANR's family serve as directors on the company board.
Nagarjuna Akkineni is carrying the legacy of Annapurna Studios forwards with his inventive and innovative ideas.
