Pacifying the agriculturists with assurances and trying to assuage the growing fears among the farmers in the state over the availability of urea, Minister for Agriculture N Raghuveera Reddy, on Wednesday, claimed that there is no shortage of urea in the state. The charges leveled by some of the farmers in different districts were baseless.
Addressing the media here today he said `` the government has allocated 9,000 metric tons of urea for each district and is prepared for supplying additional urea if needed.’’
The Minister reassured farmers that the government has put into place all necessary measures to ensure timely supply of urea.
The Agriculture Minister explained to the farmers that they do not have to worry about the losses they suffered due to their crops being submerged after heavy rains which lashed the state. The Government is planning to come out wit a proposal for such losses.
Raghuveera Reddy also criticized the opposition for trying to make an issue of the supply of urea, and said that there are no problems in the distribution of the fertilizers. He appealed to the opposition to stop trying to derive political mileage out of farmers' worries.
