Expressing satisfaction that the government could almost wipe out the backlogs of the fee reimbursement scheme in spite of the financial constraints Chief Minister, K Rosaiah, today directed that every eligible BC student should be paid the Post-Matric scholarships and fee reimbursement under any circumstances.

He instructed  the Backward Classes Welfare Department to see that no ineligible student gets these benefits. There should be a fool-proof verification of every student who is given these benefits.

The Chief Minister reviewed the functioning of the BC Welfare Department with the minister concerned and top officials at Secretariat.

He directed the Finance Department to release the funds as required for the tuition fee reimbursements and post-matric scholarships to the BC department, both to the BCs and EBCs after proper verification and assessment.

The government has sanctioned 300 new College Boys Hostels from 2010-11. Expenditure on this would be about Rs 20 crores per year. Instructions have already been issued to the districts to start the hostels by August 15 and the government has provided Rs 6 crores for maintenance of 300 college girls hostels which were functioning since August 2008.
