Information and Public Relations Minister J Geetha Reddy on Friday said that the state government will always promote talent in all forms.
Speaking at a simple function to mark the release of a CD of 11 devotional songs sung by 11-year-old Malvika Anand at the Secretariat, Ms Geetha Reddy said that young artistes and talented people have always been encouraged by the state government. She cited the example of the winner of a reality talent show ‘Indian Idol’ which a youth from Hyderabad had won.
The Minister praised Malvika for her efforts and congratulated the girl exhibiting her talent at this young age. Ms Geetha Reddy said that such young talented artistes should be encouraged.
Ms Geetha Reddy said that the government was encouraging talented budding artists and reminded that it has proof of the Indian Idol-5 winner Mynampati Sriram Chandra from Hyderabad who achieved the national award.
The Minister added the city would host the concluding programme of the 100-day cultural event ‘Shatharupalu’ on September 3. The cultural event was held at Warangal, at Vijayawada and at Kadapa for 33 days each earlier.
She also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of aged artistes and reminded that their pensions have been hiked from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000.
Tribal Welfare Minister P Balaraju also appreciated Malvika for her rendition of the devotional songs. Director of Culture Kantha Rao and others were also present.
