Health Minister Danam Nagender said that All India Congress Committee’s decision to console the families of those who died of shock or committed suicide following YSR’s death on September 2, 2009, by paying them Rs one lakh as ex-gratia is laudable.

Mr Nagender opined that the move by the party is not designed to check the Odarpu yatra of YSR district (formerly Kadapa) MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, but to offer solace to the families of ‘shock victims’ in the aftermath of YSR’s death.

The Health Minister stated that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy decision to go ahead with his Odarpu Yatra even after the High Command has expressed that it was not in favour of the Yatra was damaging the image of the young MP.

Mr Nagender described Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s position as similar to Abhimanyu in the Mahabharata. He said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy should proceed forward carefully so that he comes out of the ‘Chakravyuha’ unscathed.

Meanwhile, Nellore Rural MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy described the former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy as a ‘political saint’ and echoed the Health Minister’s words by saying that he saw nothing wrong in the Congress High Command’s moves to launch its own version of ‘Odarpu’.

Mr Vivekananda Reddy opined that the move by the party is not designed to check the Odarpu yatra of YSR district (formerly Kadapa) MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, but to offer solace to the families of those who died of shock or committed suicide following YSR’s death on September 2, 2009.
