Is Telangana KCR Family Property?

Questioning the authority of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao over his reported assurances given to industrialists at a star hotel on Wednesday, senior Telugu Desam Party leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that KCR was behaving as if he was the only person in the state who had a right to talk about Telangana.

Mr Janardhan Reddy told media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan that the TRS chief and his family were treating the Telangana regions like a family concern. He said that the four crore people of Telangana were keen to know what KCR and his family had discussed with the CEOs.

He blasted KCR’s reported statement made against TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu in which he had said that the TDP is a Seemandhra party and Mr Naidu’s true face has come before the people.

Mr Janardhan Reddy said that the TDP is and will be an integral part of the Telangana movement and its contribution in the fight for a separate statehood is as important as any other outfit’s.

Reminding KCR that Telangana ideologue Prof Kodandaram had visited the NTR Trust Bhavan to escort him to the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee meeting, Mr Janardhan Reddy said that the TRS has conveniently forgotten the time when it had sought the TDP’s support for the separate statehood issue.

Alleging that the TRS chief has become a puppet in the hands of the Congress, Mr Janardhan Reddy said that KCR is making statements against the party under the directions of the ruling party. He said that the Congress is well aware that its strongest opponent on the political field is the TDP and it is utilising the TRS to weaken the opposition party.

Mr Janardhan Reddy also wondered why KCR was silent over the Telangana issue when he was a member of the Union Cabinet.

The TDP leader also reminded that the question of lifting of cases filed against Telangana students was conveniently forgotten by the Congress and the TRS despite the fact that Union Home Minister P Chidambaram himself had assured the lifting of the cases.

In a separate media briefing, former home minister and senior TDP leader Devender Goud also criticised KCR for his assurances to the CEOs.

Mr Goud described the TRS as a private limited company, set up by KCR for the benefits of his own family members.

The TDP leader also called on people to decide if they were in favour of Telangana or KCR and said that the TRS chief was a stumbling block for the separate state.

The former home minister also alleged that the TRS chief’s ‘blackmailing tactics’ had forced the industrialists to meet him.
