CM skirts APIIC discussion at Cabinet Meet

Chief Minister K Rosaiah is understood to have deliberately skipped discussions on the burning APIIC-Emaar properties issue during the Cabinet meeting held at the state secretariat on Wednesday.

This became clear after Minister for Information and Public Relations Geetha Reddy only referred to the issue by saying that action would be initiated against erring official as per the recommendations of a Committee which is probing the issue.

Briefing the media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Ms Geetha Reddy added that the Committee members will sit with the Chairman and MD of APIIC and look into the matter.  It was not clear from her statement that the government has initiated any action against the errant officials. 

Asked to comment on the rumours that BP Acharya will be replaced by Ajay Sharma as the Principal Secretary (Commerce and Industry), Ms Geetha Reddy refused to be drawn in and skirted the topic.

It may be mentioned here that rumours of a file relating to this issue is making rounds in the Secretariat. 

Ms Geetha Reddy stated that the financial position of the state is in good health and that there is no scarcity of funds to implement any developmental programmes in the state. 

Speaking on appointment of Law Officers, she said the process would take place soon. 

Prime Minister’s Visit 

Ms Geetha Reddy stated categorically that the visit of the Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh to the state on October 19 has not been confirmed so far.  The Prime Minister was expected to lay the foundation stone for Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, the land for which is going to be given by the State at Gopanpally.
