Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Thursday blamed the media for unnecessarily dragging All India Congress Committee for failing to pay tributes to former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao and former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Srinivas said the AICC session had not taken up any resolution on paying tributes to any leader.
He blamed media for politicizing the issue for getting publicity on the issue from other political parties. The PCC chief said that both YSR and PVN have a permanent place in the hearts of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. “They will never forget the services of YSR to the state and for and for his role in helping the UPA government come back to power by sending 33 MPs from the state,” Mr Srinivas stated.
Taking a serious note on grim situation in the flood affected districts due to incessant rains, the PCC chief said the government would set up relief camps and extend all help to farmers and victims.
He called upon party cadre in the districts to help the government in rescue and relief operations in the rain-ravaged areas. Mr Srinivas said the government would seek the financial assistance of Centre in tiding over the grim situation by enlightening the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi.
He said the government would pay compensation to crops damaged in rains.
