The 125th anniversary of the formation of the Indian National Congress will be celebrated in a grand manner across the state, stated Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of a meeting convened to review arrangements for 125th anniversary celebrations with Chief Minister K Rosaiah, District Congress Committee presidents and senior leaders of party at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, the PCC chief said the party would take up various programmes to mark the anniversary from November 14 to November 19 across the districts.
He said the debate and elocution competitions and essay writing competitions on the birth of Congress party freedom movement would be held in all districts for students of colleges and high schools.
The party will take up plantation drive in all districts on Nov 15, where lakhs of saplings would be planted.
The party will take up peace rallies in the districts and in the state capital on Nov 16 stressing the importance of communal harmony.
He called upon party cadre to participate widely in the programmes and make them a grand success.
He also asked the Congress workers to take the achievements of the party to every nook and corner of the state and strengthen the party base at grass-root level.
