CM reviews soaring prices with officials

Hyderabad, Sept 9 :

The Chief Minister, K Rosaiah, on Wednesday expressed serious concern over the soaring prices of essential commodities in the state. Convening a meeting with civil supply and revenue officials at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that the worst hit section is the middle-income group, while the woes of the low-income group are endless.

The steep increase in the prices is due to unfair practices by the traders like hoarding, etc. in the absence of proper vigilance by the officials concerned, he pointed out.

Compared to the last month, the Chief Minister said the prices of pulses have been reduced to an some extent in the state. The vigilance department has seized 1200 metric tonnes of grocery items during the raids conducted in last two months. To honour the late Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s promise, the government would supply 1 kg green peas at Rs 20 and pulses at Rs 30 kg from public distribution system. Those who are having white ration cards would get these items from the month of October, he added.
