Ponguleti lashes out at BJP: 'Those who live in glass houses...'

Condemning the remarks of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders on Congress leaders over the corruption in the state and at Centre, All India Congress Committee secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar asked BJP leaders to keep in mind their party’s past history before making allegation against the Congress.

Talking to media persons at the CLP on Thursday, the MLC said that the BJP leaders Bhandaru Dattatreya and M Venkaiah Naidu are making baseless allegations against the Congress and resorting to targeting the party’s senior leaders.

“Before making allegations on Congress they should know about their past history. The Yeddyurappa-led BJP government in Karnataka has allotted flats worth Rs 1.50 crore in Dollar Colony to his relatives. What action did the BJP take against this corruption?,” Mr Sudhakar asked.

“The Gali Brothers in Yeddurappa Ministry are known for indulging in corruption and running a mining mafia. What action has the BJP leaders initiated against them?, he wondered aloud. Mr Sudhakar termed the BJP as ‘Bharatiya Jhoota (lies) Party’.

Reacting to the comments made by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on corruption, the AICC member stated that corruption was rampant during Mr Naidu tenure and the Congress was not in a position to learn lessons from Naidu, “who backstabbed his father-in-law for assuming power.”

Reacting on crisis arisen over the Free Zone issue, the senior Congress leader said the government would make efforts to get the Clause 14 (F) deleted from the Presidential Orders to prevent injustice. The government would stop recruitments until government deletes Clause 14 (F), he stated.

Reacting on placing of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s portrait at the Martyrs Memorial Meetings, Mr Sudhakar stated that nobody can replace YSR from the hearts of people.

Instead of raising a hue and cry over placing of YSR portraits, the organizers can make efforts to organize the programme smoothly and see the benefits reach beneficiaries correctly, he stated.
