Senior Congress Rajya Sabha Member V Hanumanth Rao on Saturday warned that the patience of Congressmen in the state is running out and they will “not tolerate the continued vilification campaign against AICC president Sonia Gandhi carried out by Saakshi and TV channel (Telugu newspaper and television channel).”

Speaking to media persons, Mr Hanumantha Rao stated that the Congress workers were at the end of their tolerance levels after the series of reports against the All India Congress president and Chief Minister K Rosaiah , by the media house owned by Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

The senior leader reminded that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s father and former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy had never resorted to criticising the party or its president in his lifetime. The RS Member wondered if the ‘continued vilification campaign’ was being carried out in a bid to pressurise the Congress president or was it an attempt at blackmailing her. Mr Hanumantha Rao added that the media house is run on the “ill-gotten” money earned during the reign of YSR as chief minister.

The senior leader stated that the news report carried out in Saakshi, which stated that the UPA government has become a government of scandals, was particularly hurtful. He appealed to all loyal Congress supporters to stop reading the newspaper and viewing the television channel.

Mr Hanumantha Rao also pointed out that the media house had earlier targeted Chief Minister K Rosaiah and had now turned its attention to Ms Sonia Gandhi. This, he said, is a signal for the loyal Congress workers and leaders to expose the ‘wrong-doings’ of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy.
