Launching a scathing counter-attack on the state Congress leaders, suspended PCC general secretary Ambati Rambabu on Sunday accused them of hatching a well-planned conspiracy to ‘politically bury’ the darling of the masses Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Mr Rambabu, without saying so in so many words, stated that a section of the state Congress leadership was resorting to conspiracies to sideline the growing popularity of the Kadapa MP, who was becoming a thorn in their political ambitions.

Talking to media persons at his residence, Mr Rambabu stated that he has not found any fault in the programme broadcast by Sakshi TV and said that it was an analysis of news items broadcast by various media houses. The suspended PCC general secretary also praised Sakshi for being independent in its reportage. “Since the establishment of the newspaper and the TV channel, Sakshi is acting in a responsible manner without giving room for complaints and criticism from any quarters,” he pointed out.

The staunch Jaganmohan Reddy supporter stated that the programme was aimed at explaining how Sonia Gandhi had brightened the image of the Congress party since she had assumed charge as its president. Meanwhile, the channel editor Priyadarshini Ram told media persons that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy was not involved in the airing of the programme and is in no way connected with the entire episode.

Stating that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy was not even aware of the programme since he does not interfere in the news broadcast by Sakshi channe, he stated that the programme was an analysis of the news items carried out by other media. He alleged that a section of Congress leaders and news channels were intentionally targeting Sakshi owner YS Jaganmohan Reddy with the aim of soiling his image to bury his political career.

Mr Rambabu added that senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao, who made harsh comments against former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has no moral right to comment on the issue. He also expressed regrets at the statement of Chief Minister K Rosaiah that the programme was intentionally aimed at tarnishing the image of Congress party.Mr Rambabu added that Congress party would sweep to power with the help of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy in the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in 2014. He alleged that a section of leaders in the party were misleading High Command about Mr Jaganmohan Reddy by giving wrong information and projecting him that he is being rebellious.
