Former minister and strong loyalist of YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Konda Surekha on Friday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the properties owned by former Government Advisor and Rajya Sabha member Kvp Ramachandra Rao.
Ms Surekha said that a comprehensive probe into the assets owned by KVP before late YS Rajasekhara Reddy became chief minister and after his death would revealed the extent of wealth accumulated by KVP.
Coming down heavily on KVP, who was considered close to YSR, the former minister released a letter to media alleging that KVP and Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah have jointly looted the state. She alleged that the two had looted money through the ‘Jalayagnam’ Irrigation projects by taking commission from the contractors. The strong YSR family loyalist described KVP as a broker and backstabber of the family.
She said that when YSR was alive, KVP acted as if he was very loyal to the family, only to earn money by working as a ‘broker’ and lobbying. After YSR’s sudden death, she alleged that KVP had collected the signatures of 150 MLAs on a petition asking that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy be made chief minister. Ms Surekha added that because of his conspiracy, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy became the target of the Congress High Command’s wrath.
Mr Jaganmohan Reddy fell from the grace of the Congress High Command due to KVP’s machinations, she pointed out. The former minister added that KVP then turned his attention on YS Vivekananda Reddy, YSR’s brother and used him as pawn in the High Command hands to split the YSR family.
She criticized the KVP for hatching a conspiracy to defame Mr Jaganmohan Reddy and eventually paving the way for his exit from the Congress party. As Advisor to the Government, he did not give any good suggestion during troubled times, Ms Surekha stated.
