City Police Commissioner Ak Khan on Wednesday imposed restrictions on the celebrations of New Year eve.

Talking to media persons after chairing a review meeting over the security situation with his officials and management of Star Hotels, Pubs and Clubs in Hyderabad City, the City Police Commissioner called upon bar and pub owners to down their shutters by 1 am on December 31 night to prevent untoward incidents.

The police chief said that the police would take serious action on those who take law into their hands during New Year celebrations.

He said that 12 special police teams headed by Assistant Commissioners of Police have been formed to patrol the city during nights.

Mr Khan revealed that the organisers and management assured that they would take care of the security inside the venues while the police will manage the security outside the places hosting New Year parties.

The police chief revealed that one hour extended permission has been granted to 1 AM on January 1, 2011 from the regular time of midnight, for recreation activity connected to New Year. 

He said that decency of apparel, decency of dance and decency of acts, gestures, words has to be ensured by organizers.  There should not be any obscenity and nudity in any performances, Mr Khan warned.

He also reminded the organizers that the police has busted seven drugs rackets in Hyderabad City in the past six months and warned the organizers of programme that any member making use of drugs or Narcotics and Psychotropic substances in the New Year parties. He said that the managements would be held culpable if it fails to prevent drug abuse.

The police chief also warned the revelers that sound levels should be maintained at 45 Decibels and less.

Mr Khan also said that from December 20 onwards, 12 Special teams under ACP’s will be formed with video cameras to conduct surprise check of any illegal activities in the City. He also warned the organizers to apply by December 20 for permission for the programmes.

Organized should ensure that passes /tickets/coupons should not be given in excess, granted than the capacity leading to law and order problem.

Eve teasing, drunken driving speed racing like activity will be curbed with iron hands and trouble mongers were warned to amend their act.

At places like Necklace Road, KBR Park Road, Banjara Hills Road, Gandipet, Secunderabad, special checking would be conducted by the police, Mr Khan warned.
