Police must apologise for using force against TDP workers: Narayana

Condemning the police highhandedness while forcibly arresting and shifting Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu from the New MLA Quarters at Adarsh Nagar to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences on Monday morning, Communist Party of India state general secretary K Narayana said that the onus was on the state government now to show its commitment to the farmers welfare.

Talking to media persons after enquiring about health condition of Mr Naidu with NIMS doctors, the Left party leader said the government should have shown its commitment in solving farmers’ issues by revising the compensation package announced earlier instead of shifting the former chief minister to hospital.

Terming the police action on Mr Naidu who forcibly lifted him as ‘undemocratic,’ Mr Narayana demanded disciplinary action on the errant policemen and sought apology from them. He added that the police should also apologise to the TDP workers who were injured in the lathi-charge during the seven-hour long standoff at Adarsh Nagar during the arrest on Monday morning.

The veteran communist leader also extended his full support and solidarity to Mr Naidu’s fast for the cause of farmers’ welfare and bandh call in the state.
