Taking a serious note on state government’s adamant attitude in addressing the farmers woes, the all-party meeting convened by the Telugu Desam Party at Ntr Trust Bhavan on Wednesday called upon party cadre to lay siege to National and State highways on Thursday.
Addressing the press conference after emerging out of the all-party meeting, senior TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that the attendees took serious note on the deteriorating health party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who is observing hunger fast pressing for farmers’ problems since last Friday.
Mr Janardhan Reddy said the all-party meeting decided to lay siege to all National and State highways on Thursday protesting the state government stubborn attitude over the farmers’ woes.
He said the state government should be held responsible for serious consequences if anything happens to Mr Naidu and criticized the both Centre and state governments’ for adopting anti-farmers policies.
Mr Janardhan Reddy said the Opposition leader launched the agitation for the cause of farmers and there was no hidden agenda behind it. He called upon the party cadre to block all highways until the government does justice to genuine demands of farmers.
TDP senior leader Devender Goud, CPI state general secretary K Narayana, Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayanan and others participated in the all-party meeting expressed their solidarity with Mr Naidu’s agitation.
