At a review meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the Chief Minister made a first-hand attempt to keep himself posted about the developments which emanated from the dubious 'agreements' that gave room for diluting the interests of the state.

The Chief Minister's keenness to know the entire episode that led to the occurrence of irregularities which his predecessor K Rosaiah chose to keep on the backburner during his tenure assumes lot of importance and raised many an eyebrow.

It may be recalled that the said agreement was made during former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime and changes in the agreement were allegedly effected at the behest of YSR.

Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Golf Court and township were the joint venture projects of APIIC and Emaar properties.

Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy who detailed the mediapersons after the review meeting, informed that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government has decided about avoiding further loss to the APIIC.

Referring to the Racha Banda scheme beginning from January 24, she made light of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s call to disrupt the said function in all the Telangana constituencies.

She also expressed regrets over the issue saying that the Telangana issue was quite different from the social welfare programme which was designed to help the poor.

Ms Geetha Reddy also expressed confidence that the beneficiaries would certainly welcome the scheme as it brought gains to them.

Replying to a question, on Congress leaders criticising the scheme, the Minister claimed that there was democracy within the party and hence the outbursts or poser on the programme.

Ms Geetha Reddy also clarified that the Ministers from Telangana region would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for apprising him about their desire to have a separate state for Telangana.
