Kaka trying to hijack T issue for personal gains: Gone

Former State Road Transport Corporation chairman and Telangana Congress leader Gone Prakash Rao on Thursday condemned the statements of Congress Working Committee member G Venkataswamy linking Sonia Gandhi leadership with Telangana state issue.

Talking to media persons at Public Gardens, he said the CWC member has in the past cheated Telangana people using the agitation for political gains and is now trying to hijack the issue for his personal gains.

Mr Prakash Rao alleged that Mr Venkataswamy, who had earlier aligned with the Telangana Praja Samithi, which was formed in 1969 to press for the separate Telangana state, has cheated the Telangana people after getting benefits during former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s rule.

“Kaka is using the same trick and linking his charges with Telangana state issue. No Telangana leader will believe his statements and he cannot cheat the people every time by raising the Telangana issue,” he pointed out.

“All his family members benefited using the Telangana issue and minted crores of rupees,” Mr Prakash Rao stated. Mr Prakash Rao pointed out that the creation of Telangana is a certainty, with only the date yet to be announced formally.

This, he said, was the reason behind Mr Venkataswamy’s attempt to link the Telangana issue with his outburst and project himself as the region’s well wisher.

He described Kaka as a `political broker’ who will gladly mortgage Telangana interests to anyone for his personal benefits.

The senior Congress leader, known for his support to former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, termed the comments that Congress was losing its sheen under leadership of Sonia Gandhi as baseless and unwarranted.

Mr Prakash Rao said that he was ready for a debate on the allegations laid by Mr Venakataswamy at any time and any place of the CWC member’s choice.
