CPI to stall Assembly on fee arrears, urges Chiru to rethink on merger

Communist Party Of India state secretary K Narayana on Wednesday repeated his warning that his party would try and stall the Budget Session of the Assembly if the government does not release the fee reimbursement arrears before February 17.

Mr Narayana also appealed to Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi to have a rethink over his decision to merge his party with the ruling Congress party.

Talking to media persons, where he also released a letter, the CPI leader said that the actor-turned-politician, who set up the party on the plank of bringing `social justice’ to the people, should first answer the 70 lakh persons who had cast their valuable vote for him.

The CPI leader said that Mr Chiranjeevi should have a rethink on his decision and must take the opinion of people before folding up his party and join hands with the Congress. He said that the decision to merge the party with the Congress tantamount to cheating the aspirations of those who voted for him.

Mr Narayana also alleged that the Congress, which involved in rampant corruption both at Centre and State, has lured Chiranjeevi by offering Ministerial posts to protect its government.

He warned the state government that his party would intensify its protest and stall the Budget Session of Assembly if it fails to release arrears of fee reimbursement and scholarships to those students who are pursuing studies in private engineering colleges in the state.

Mr Narayana said that his party workers would launch an awareness campaign on the rampant corruption prevailing in the country and point out the role of the Centre and the state which are seemingly unable to prevent graft. The awareness campaign would be taken up across the districts of the state, the CPI leader stated.

Reacting on Racha Banda programme launched by the state government to address people’s problems, the Left leader stated the government has totally failed in redressing problems as the programme was held under tight security.

The whole meaning of the programme has been lost since the people are too scared to venture before the officials and Representatives due to fear and their natural apprehensions about the tight security, Mr Narayana stated.

The veteran Communist leader also demanded a probe into allocation of KG Basin gas to private companies. He alleged that a lot of irregularities have taken place and the state’s interests have been hurt.

When pointed out that allotment of gas to the companies had taken place during the tenure of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Narayana said the guilty should be hanged. He said that even Mr Chandrababu Naidu should not be spared, if he is guilty of failing to protect the state’s interests.
