Telangana Telugu Desam Party Front convenor Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Monday called upon Congress Legislators from the region who had left for New Delhi earlier to ensure that they get a concrete assurance from the High Command on the introduction of Telangana Bill in the Budget Session of Parliament.

Talking to media persons at Telugu Desam Legislature Party office, Mr Janardhan Reddy demanded that the Congress elected representatives should mount pressure on the party’s High Command to a concrete assurance on the introduction of the Telangana Bill.

The senior TDP leader exhorted the Congress Legislators, “Do not come back with empty hands as far as the Telangana issue is concerned. The people of the region are eagerly waiting for some positive news. If you return with empty hands, the people of the region will consider you as weak and inefficient leaders.”

Mr Janardhan Reddy further criticized the Centre for not making its stand clear on the issue of bifurcation of the state even after the submission of Justice Srikrishna Committee Report.

He said the TDP MLAs from Telangana would stall the proceedings in the Assembly demanding introduction of the Telangana statehood Bill.

The Telangana face of the TDP said that his party would also corner the government on the issue of lifting of cases against those who participated in the pro and anti separate statehood agitations. Mr Janardhan Reddy pointed out that while the government had promised to lift the cases against students and had even passed GOs to this effect, the ground reality was that a majority of the cases have been actually lifted.

He assured that his party would extend complete support to noncooperation movement called by Telangana Political Joint Action Committee from February 17.
