Behave or be suspended, warns Bhatti to protesting Legislators

Hinting that the patience of the ruling party was nearing its end, Government Chief Whip Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday did not rule out using suspensions of protesting MLAs inside the state Assembly ‘as a last resort’.

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Mr Vikramarka called on the opposition parties to allow the House to function normally so that issues of public importance are discussed and solutions found.

The Chief Whip pointed out that the people elect Legislators so that their problems can be solved, but the constant disruptions to the proceedings in the House have been depriving people of their rights.

Pointing out that it was the responsibility of the Members to raise people’s issues, Mr Vikramarka stated that the House must be allowed to function.

The Government Chief Whip requested the Members to allow the House to function normally from Monday onwards or the ‘last resort can be used.’

Mr Vikramarka also assured that the Congress Members were obedient and would no longer disrupt the proceedings.

Speaking later, Minister for Primary Education S Sailajanath accused Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu of not being able to control his party MLAs. He said that Mr Naidu should control his MLAs and extend support to the ruling party for the smooth functioning of the House. The Minister also added that the Congress Legislators were ‘fully in control and obedient to the party.’

Mr Sailajanath also called on the TDP to resolve its internal differences before raising fingers at the Congress.
