Telangana Congress MPs Madhu Yaskhi Goud and K Kesava Rao on Thursday were physically attacked by pro-Telangana activists for their failure to resign in support of the separate statehood agitation.

The two MPs had separately made their way to the Tank Bund to express solidarity with the Million March being organised by the TJAC when they came under attack by the activists.

The MPs were stepping down the steps of the Dr BR Ambedkar statue after offering floral tributes to make their way to the Tank Bund when they were bombarded with a barrage of slippers, water bottles and stick.

Before the security personnel accompanying the two MPs could react, the activists let loose the ‘missiles’, shouting ‘Jai Telangana slogans all the while.

The activists stated that the MPs had no moral right to join the Million March since they had not resigned in favour of Telangana and were sticking to their posts. They demanded that the MPs first tender their resignations and then take part in pro-Telangana agitations.

Mr Kesava Rao’s car was also damaged by the incensed agitators.

The activists described Mr Madhu Yaskhi Goud as a `Telangana Traitor’ who had failed to press for introduction of Telangana Bill in parliament and asked him to go back from the Tank Bund.

The activists also damaged the car of MP K Kesava Rao with sticks and stones and demanded his resignation to from Parliament in support of Telangana agitation.

It was left to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force), VB  Kamalahasan Reddy to rescue the MPs from the pro-Telangana activists’ wrath and shift them to a safer place.

Incidentally, both the MPs were heard raising ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans while getting into the police vehicles.
