Harish Rao threatens to jump into Hussain Sagar

Police managed to take Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA T Harish Rao in their custody at the Buddha statue in the middle of the Hussain Sagar Lake and safely shift him to a police station after he threatened to jump into the water if he was arrested.

 Earlier, the TRS MLA had given the police the slip when they tried to take him into custody at Gun Park and had made his way to the Buddha statue by boat.

The police were attempting to arrest the MLA as part of their attempt to thwart the Million March being organised under the aegis of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on Tank Bund demanding introduction of Telangana Bill in Parliament.

The police had told Mr Harish Rao that there was no permission given for the Million March and he would be arrested if he attempt to join the agitation.

Mr Harish Rao somehow managed to escape from arrest and made his way to the Tank Bund. He then proceeded to take a boat and make his way to the Buddha statue in the middle of the lake.

The police had earlier deployed some personnel at the Buddha statue who were waiting for the MLA. As soon as Mr Harish Rao saw the police, he warned them that he would jump into the lake if he was arrested.

However, the police took him into their custody and sent him to mainland by boat where he was shifted to a nearby police station.
