Former Congress Minister and Punganur MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy on Thursday pledged that he would not sleep till he dethroned Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy from his post.
Talking to media persons, Mr Ramachandra Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister has worked against the interests of party and given tickets in the legislative council elections to those candidates who garlanded Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s portraits with slippers.
As sincere, obedient and loyal candidates are not getting recognition in the Congress, he said, the loyal candidates have fielded Tippareddy as rebel candidate against official Congress candidate Naresh Kumar Reddy.
Incidentally, in Chittoor district D Tippa Reddy backed by the Jagan group won the seat by defeating Congress candidate Naresh Kumar Reddy with a narrow margin of just two votes.
Mr Ramachandra Reddy also alleged the Chief Minister had received kickbacks from Opposition party and forced voters to cross-voting.
If the Chief Minister has any moral values he should own responsibility for the failure of official candidate in the council elections, the former minister demanded. He also demanded that Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy should resign from his post immediately.
Mr Ramachandra Reddy stated that he would not sleep until he dethrones Chief Minister from his post and pledged to continue his efforts in this direction.
When asked whether Tippareddy belonged to Congress party or to the YSR Congress Party, the former minister stated that he would react only after getting complete response from the Chief Minister in this regard.
