Former State Road Transport Corporation chairman and staunch loyalist of former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Gone Prakasa Rao on Tuesday lashed out at Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA T Harish Rao for describing Telangana leaders who campaign in the ensuing by-elections in Kadapa as ‘traitors of Telangana’.
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Prakash Rao said that Mr Harish Rao was now issuing ‘meaningless fatwas’ to project himself as the frontline leaders of the TRS.
“Basically, his utterances are meaningless and he is just issuing ‘fatwas’ to project himself as one of the top leaders in the TRS,” Mr Prakash Rao said.
How can anyone from Telangana who campaigns in the by-elections for the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies be a traitor of Telangana,” wondered the YSR Congress Party leader.
Mr Prakash Rao further advised Mr Harish Rao to stop these ‘fatwas’ as they served no purpose.
Expressing his surprise at the branding of leaders who campaigned in the by-elections as traitors, the senior politician also wondered why the TRS had not initiated disciplinary action against its three MLAs for indulging in cross-voting during the recent Legislative Council elections.
“The TRS should set its house in order first before making comments against others,” Mr Prakash Rao stated. He continued, “As a Telangana leader I will participate in campaigning for the by-elections and put in my best efforts to help Mr Jaganmohan Reddy win.”
Mr Prakash Rao further stated that the former MP would make his stand clear on the separate Telangana statehood demand soon after the by-elections. “If Mr Jaganmohan Reddy fails to make an announcement on Telangana statehood, I will leave the country,” he vowed.
