Stating that the initial support for YS Jaganmohan Reddy was from some sections of the Congress leaders was on the wane, Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Kamalakara Rao on Wednesday expressed confidence that the party Legislators would soon come back to their parent party stop aligning with the former MP.

Citing the example of party MLA from Budvel Kamalamma, Mr Kamalakar Rao said that this is just a start, other MLAs supporting Mr Jaganmohan Reddy too would come back to the party and in fact campaign for the Congress candidates.

“Mr Jaganmohan Reddy cannot influence the party MLAs with his money power,” Mr Kamalakar Rao stated before media persons at Gandhi Bhavan. He said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has taken the by-elections as a prestige issue, and is resorting to dubious methods such as using money power to capture the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat.

The PCC spokesperson appealed to the Election Commission to take foolproof measures to check the flow of money in the district so that the by-elections for the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies are conducted in a free and fair manner.

“We are confident of victory even though Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is trying to use money power to win,” Mr Kamalakar Rao stated. “Even she (Budvel MLA Kamalamma) has expressed her support to the Congress candidates in the by-elections,” he added.

Reacting on the Telugu Desam Party leaders leveling allegations against his party leaders, he asked the TDP to set right its house in order first before making remarks against Congress leaders.

Another party spokesperson N Padmaja condemned the remarks made by Communist Party of India state secretary K Narayana who said that with nine Ministers active in the campaigning for the by-elections, the administration would be paralysed. Ms Padmaja bluntly told Mr Narayana to stop uttering meaningless words.
