Acceptance of resignation is my first victory for TRS: Pocharam

Thanking Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar for accepting his resignation from the state Legislative Assembly, former Telugu Desam Party Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Thursday stated that it was his first victory for Telangana Rashtra Samithi despite obstacles raised by the TDP.

Talking to media persons on Assembly premises, the former MLA thanked Mr Manohar for his outright rejection of the TDP demand of disqualifying him under the Anti-Defection Law.

Condemning the allegations raised by the TDP against him and describing them as ‘baseless’, Mr Srinivas said “I have never indulged in the anti-party activities anywhere and the party had leveled allegations without substantial proof.”

He also thanked YSR Congress Party leader Baji Reddy Govardhan Reddy for expressing solidarity to him by announcing that the party would not field any candidate in Banswada.

Mr Srinivas said that he resigned from the Telugu Desam Party as the party president N Chandrababau Naidu had not made his stand clear on separate Telangana statehood demand.

The former MLA also opined that the formation of a separate Telangana state would be possible only through united and concerted efforts and asked the elected Members to submit their resignations to from their posts. “This would create a Constitutional crisis and would go a long way in achieving a separate Telangana state,” he stated.
