Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao on Friday stated that YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy was making baseless allegations against Congress president Sonia Gandhi in order to move closer with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Talking to media persons at his residence in Amberpet, the senior Congress leader stated that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy was targeting Ms Gandhi with an intention to come closer to the BJP.
However, Mr Hanumantha Rao said that people of the Kadapa constituency will not believe Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s words and teach him a fitting lesson in the by-elections.
Condemning the claims made by Mr Jaganmohan Reddy that some section of electronic media, particularly the television channels like ETV, TV9, ABN, have launched a malicious campaign against him to hit his winning chances in the by-elections, Mr Hanumantha Rao said that the state was witnessing a bad period due to the YSR Congress Party president and not due to electronic media.
Stating that BJP was against religious reservations from its inception, the senior Congress leader wondered how it can provide 10 per cent reservations for the minority communities. Even former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy was not able to announce 6 percent quota for minorities during his tenure, Mr Hanumantha Rao pointed out.
He called upon people to be alert over Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s movements with BJP as it was against Muslims.
The Congress leader also wondered why the BJP was not raising its voice against rampant corruption of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy and his properties.
“It is an insult for a National-level party like the BJP for stating that it has no base in Kadapa and refusing to field its candidates in the by-elections,” Mr Hanumantha Rao stated.
Demanding that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy declare his ‘true’ properties and assets, the MP said the Congress members are ready to file petitions in Court if he fails to declare their true worth.
“The Congress members have substantial evidence to produce before the courts on Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s illegal assets and properties,” Mr Hanumantha Rao stated.
