Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on Sunday stated that the City Crime Station force has been entrusted with the responsibility to investigate the attack on the life of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.
Ms Indra Reddy further told media persons at the Care Hospital in Banjara Hills that the special teams formed on Saturday to nab the attackers have fanned out and will soon nab the assailants.
She had earlier inquired about the health of the MIM Floor Leader in the state Assembly from the doctors at the hospital.
The Home Minister said that the case has been transferred to the CCS to expedite the investigations.
Ms Indra Reddy further said that the CCS will investigate all aspects of the attack, including the conspiracy angle as alleged by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. The CCS will also investigate if the attack was the result of the antagonism felt by the attackers after Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi attempted to save government land from encroachments.
Earlier on Saturday, a case was registered in this connection at Chandraynagutta Police station limits.
Ms Indra Reddy also expressed confidence that the police teams will be able to nab the attackers soon.
The Home Minister further said that the situation in the city, particularly the Old city is peaceful and appealed to the people to continue observing restrain.
Appealing to people to observe restraint, she stated that steps have been taken to ensure that law and order is maintained.
"Doctors told us Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi’s condition is stable and his vital organs like heart and liver are not affected. The one bullet inside (the body) will not pose any problem. He is out of danger," she said.
Meanwhile tension prevailed at the Care Hospital as many MIM supporters staged dharnas in front of the hospital. They were demanding that the hospital authorities issue a clear statement on the Legislator’s health.
